A Legal Herald contributor and experience truck accident attorney at BanvilleLaw.com, Laurence Banville had the following details to share with those who have suffered injuries in a semi-truck crash:

“When a loved one is hurt or killed in an accident due to another driver’s negligence, it is rather normal for victims and their family members to want to fight for justice. If the incident involved a truck, semi-truck, or tractor-trailer, a lawsuit can help do just that in various ways.

First of all, it will help the victim and their family to feel that justice has been served. Additionally, a lawsuit can also achieve full compensation that recovers monetary and non-monetary losses. These can include:

  • Lost wages
  • Emotional trauma
  • Physical trauma
  • Medical bills

When the worst occurs, the family of the deceased has the right to file the legal claim on their behalf. Less common is when non-relatives are able to file the suit; this is an option when the individuals was a dependent of the victim.

If a victim of a truck accident injury is considering their legal options, they should also be aware that some cases are limited by time. Therefore, they should speak with an experienced attorney as soon as possible after an incident to be more informed when making a decision.
