Greensboro Daycare Employee Charged in Child Pornography Case
A now-former employee of Fellowship Presbyterian Church’s Fellowship Day School is facing multiple charges in a child pornography case.
23-year-old Alyson Brooke Saunders was arrested on Friday, April 5 and charged with six counts of first-degree sexual exploitation of a minor, two counts of sex offense on a child by an adult, four counts of indecent liberties with a child, and two counts of crimes against nature. She is currently being held under $1 million bond and was fired after her arrest.
Saunders allegedly produced photos and videos depicting indecent liberties against victims between ages 2 and 3. The alleged abuse happened at the daycare. She is accused of sending the images to someone in Great Britain.
Authorities began investigating Saunders after Homeland Security Investigators in London arrested someone on child pornography charges and discovered that the suspect had been communicating with Saunders online. The HSI London division then contacted HSI Winston-Salem in February. Saunders reportedly admitted to exploiting and producing pornography of minor children in an interview with special agents.
Saunders worked for the Fellowship Day School for five years prior to her arrest.
Legal Recourse for Daycare Abuse Victims and Their Families
Attorney contributor Brian Kent of AbuseGuardian.com has experience helping survivors in both criminal and civil courts – first as a prosecutor, and now as a civil attorney who helps survivors file lawsuits. Here are some of Brian’s thoughts on the legal options available to daycare sex abuse survivors and their families:
Parents entrust daycares to look after their kids, but unfortunately, not all daycares make sure the kids under their watch are safe. There is a high potential for abuse in this field, as sexual predators often seek out positions in fields that involve working with children. Daycares have to stay aware of the dangers of abuse and act accordingly to keep the children of their customers safe.
When allegations of sex abuse by a daycare employee surface, they must be taken seriously. The perpetrator must be arrested and the facility should also be investigated to determine if the abuse could have been stopped or prevented if not for negligence.
If your child has recently come forward concerning sexual abuse at a daycare, your family has legal rights. You can learn more about your options by discussing your situation with an experienced sex abuse survivors lawyer.
