Fatal Incident Occurred Behind Penny Mustard Furnishings Store At 8380 W. Layton Ave

One construction worker was killed and a second injured in an electrocution accident that took place in the rear of a Penny Mustard Furnishings Store.

Emergency units were called out to the accident site just before 11AM on Tuesday, October 22nd. Upon arrivng, responders encountered one victim whom they were able to treat and later transport to Froedtert Hospital. While the victim survived, he sustained severe injuries.

Exact details have yet to be released, but it has been indicated by authorities that the second victim, the man who would be pronounced dead at the scene, was not accessible by emergency crews. Some time elapsed between their arrival and the point at which they could reach the victim to help him, but it was too late by then.

Local authorities are currently investigating the circumstances of this incident which has been officially categorized as a construction accident. OSHA is also involved in finding the facts behind this deadly occurrence.

Laurence Banville is a construction accident attorney with years of experience fighting for the rights of workers injured on work sites. He offered the following information for victims of construction accidents and their families:

“Construction employees are vital for the growth of cities all across the USA, yet with their profession also come some very serious risks.

The Occupational Health and Safety Administration, better known as OSHA, is the federal regulatory body which supervises works injuries. They not only report on all accidents in workplaces across the country, they also conduct investigations into why they occurred, whose fault it was, and how it can be prevented in the future.

Perhaps most importantly, when accidents take place, OSHA also develops new regulations for safeguarding the health of workers. Yet OSHA’s laws are often violated on construction sites, and when this occurs, the chances of a construction injury or death happening increase exponentially.

Fortunately, the worker’s compensation system of each state is there to back up injured workers, providing them with benefits that cover the costs of their injury. But filing a worker’s comp claim can be complicated and, if done incorrectly, can result in a claim being denied.

The help of an experienced construction injury attorney in filing a worker’s compensation claim can prove critical, as they know the process and understand exactly why claims are denied. Construction accident attorneys should also be consulted when construction accidents turn deadly, as one of the only ways for the victim’s families to receive compensation may be through a construction death lawsuit.

If you or a loved one suffered an injury on a construction site, speak with an experienced legal representative who will be able to fight for your rights, and your deserved compensation, as you would for yourself.”
