Dr. Erik Madsen has been accused of sexually assaulting 4 patients at Mountain View Chiropractic & Wellness Center.

Dr. Erik Madsen Charged with Sexual Battery

Franklin chiropractor Dr. Erik Madsen is facing criminal charges for allegedly sexually assaulting four female patients at his office – Mountain View Chiropractic & Wellness Center. Madsen faces four misdemeanor counts of sexual battery – assault on a female.

Police began investigating Madsen several months ago after multiple female patients reported concerns of inappropriate touching during procedures for lower back pain. Court records say four women reported that Madsen inappropriately touched them in their private areas. All of the allegations are from this year.

While Madsen is currently charged with sexually assaulting four patients, police say the investigation is ongoing and that the case is still growing. A total of at least seven victims have reportedly come forward with similar allegations.

Madsen is currently free on $10,000 bond and has a court date scheduled for January 8th.

Legal Recourse For Victims of Chiropractor Sexual Assault

Attorney contributor Brian Kent of AbuseGuardian.com specializes in representing sexual assault victims in civil lawsuits and has represented several victims of sexual assault by doctors and other medical professionals. We’ve asked Brian to add some general information regarding the legal rights of chiropractor sexual assault victims:

As patients, we trust doctors and other medical professionals to provide us with respectful and professional medical care. Most doctors are trustworthy pillars of their communities – however, the medical field also has widespread issues with sexual assault. There have been reports of doctors sexually assaulting patients in all 50 states.

Patients who have been sexually assaulted by their doctors have legal rights in both criminal and civil courts. Reporting the assault to law enforcement will lead to a criminal investigation and potential prosecution of the doctor, which can be an important part of finding justice. Additionally, these victims also may have grounds for a lawsuit against the doctor and possibly the medical facility where the assault occurred.

If you or a loved one has been sexually assaulted by a chiropractor or another medical professional, our experienced sexual assault victims attorneys are prepared to help you find the answers and support you deserve. You can learn more about your legal rights in a free consultation.
