Two Injured in Fiery Semi-Truck Crash in NC

CBS 17 reported that a multiple-car collision occurred on I-95 near Pope Road just outside of Dunn in Harnett County, NC.

According to NC Highway Patrol troopers, a semi-truck ran off the road just before 4 p.m. on Saturday, January 7, 2023. The tractor-trailer hit the bridge pilling before colliding with two cars and bursting into flames. When troopers arrived, they found the truck in flames and the driver in critical condition. He was flown to a nearby hospital for his extensive burns. A driver from another vehicle suffered non-life-threatening injuries. The report stated that the wreck occurred in a construction zone prone to traffic collisions.

Justice For Semi-Truck Accident Victims

Attorney contributor Kristen Beightol works for a truck accident law firm in North Carolina. Kristen has many years of experience representing victims seeking justice for tractor-trailer and semi-truck accidents. She recently sat down with us to share some legal options for those injured in semi-truck collisions.

"Accidents caused by semi-trucks can result in serious injuries or death. Large commercial truck drivers are responsible for following proper driving practices to reduce the risk of accidents. Distracted driving is one of the main causes of accidents, along with excessive speeds, failing to yield to other traffic, and ignoring traffic signals. A negligent truck driver can be held responsible for their injuries."

"It is possible to file a lawsuit against the negligent truck driver, but victims and their families might have a case against negligent third parties. If the driver was not properly licensed or has a history of traffic violations, the trucking company may be held accountable. A truck accident lawyer can help the victim and their family members get the justice they deserve."
