Detroit Tattoo Artist Alexander Boyko Accused of Sexual Misconduct by Several Women
Detroit-area tattoo artist Alexander Boyko was arrested on Wednesday, December 11, for allegedly sexually assaulting a client. Boyko faces three counts of fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct.
The alleged victim is a 24-year-old woman from Redford Township who told police that Boyko initiated “inappropriate sexual contact” between April and June of 2015.
Boyko was the subject of a social media controversy following a 2018 Jezebel article. In this article, seven accusers spoke out regarding alleged inappropriate touching, harassment, and sexual assault by Boyko. The accusers also said that Boyko asked for nude photos under the guise of using them to draw tattoos and that he sent nude photos of himself.
Boyko most recently worked for the Sun House tattoo studio in Detroit and has also worked at other studios in Los Angeles and the Midwest.

Legal Options for Victims of Sexual Assault by Tattoo Artists
As a former sex crimes prosecutor and current civil sex abuse victims lawyer, Brian Kent of AbuseGuardian.com has helped victims find justice in both criminal and civil courts. Here are a few thoughts from Brian on the legal rights of those who have been sexually assaulted by tattoo artists:
Tattoo artists are trusted by their clients to provide quality work and to treat them with respect. These clients are in vulnerable positions and there is a risk for abuse if untrustworthy people are working as tattoo artists. When a tattoo artist violates a client’s trust and sexually assaults him or her, the client should be aware of their legal rights.
Reporting a sexual assault by a tattoo artist to the police is an important first step, but victims also often have rights in civil courts. In one case, a Florida woman was awarded $500,000 after suing tattoo artist Louis Augustin and his employer, Silva Back Inc., following a sexual assault at a tattoo parlor.
