Sixth-Grade Teacher Arrested for Child Porn and Animal Sexual Abuse in Florida

A shocking incident has emerged from Holly Hill where David R. McKeown, a 47-year-old sixth-grade teacher at UBIC Academy, located at 560 Flomich St, Daytona Beach, FL 32117, was taken into custody on Friday. The Holly Hill Police Department reported that McKeown faces serious charges, including 19 counts of possessing child pornography and six counts of engaging in sexual activities involving animals, according to WESH 2.

On Saturday morning, McKeown made his initial court appearance, where a judge set his bond at a staggering $1,250,000, calculated at $50,000 for each count.

Investigation Details Disturbing Material on Teacher's Social Media Accounts

The investigation commenced following a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in early June. Law enforcement executed search warrants at both McKeown’s home and UBIC Academy, seizing multiple electronic devices and other crucial evidence for forensic analysis.

Detectives, with support from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement Cyber Crimes Task Force and the state attorney general's office, discovered disturbing material on McKeown's social media accounts, including 19 images of child sexual abuse and six images depicting sexual activities with animals.

Attorney General's Statement

Attorney General James Uthmeier condemned McKeown's actions, stating, "What he did is beyond betrayal — it's devastating and sick." He emphasized the trust parents placed in McKeown and vowed that the Office of Statewide Prosecution would aggressively seek justice for the affected children and their families.

Disturbing Communication Uncovered from the Accused Teacher's Social Media

Investigators uncovered numerous messages on McKeown's social media, revealing his communication with other users. These interactions included sharing students' personal information and photographs. Alarmingly, he also appeared to exploit artificial intelligence technology to create further child pornography.

Additionally, officials reported that McKeown manufactured animal pornography, involving explicit acts with the family's pet.

Teacher Sentenced to No Contact With Minors Amid Sex Crime Charges

McKeown is currently held at Volusia County Branch Jail. If he posts bail, he will face stringent conditions, including no contact with minors and restricted internet access. The community remains shaken as this case unfolds.
