Los Angeles County authorities have arrested a 68-year-old pastor for allegedly sexually assaulting a child while serving at a church in California, according to CNYCentral. The suspect, identified as Quintilo Sagrero, faces two counts of lewd acts upon a minor.
The incidents reportedly took place on October 7 at the Templo Pentecostal El Camino Church located at 1512 E Alondra Blvd, Compton, CA 90221. Following an investigation by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, law enforcement officials believe there may be more victims who have yet to come forward.
Detectives are appealing to the community for assistance in identifying any additional victims connected to this case. The sheriff's office stressed the importance of public involvement in ensuring the safety of children.
Sagrero was taken into custody on November 6 and is currently being held on a bail amount of $200,000. Authorities encourage anyone with information or who believes they may have been a victim to reach out to the Special Victims Bureau at the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

As the community grapples with the recent arrest of Pastor Quintilo Sagrero for alleged sexual assault, many victims may be wondering about their legal rights and options. We spoke with Jason Amala, an experienced sexual abuse lawyer in California, to provide clarity on the steps victims can take to seek recourse and support in the aftermath of sexual assault by a church pastor.
Editor Darla Medina: Can you explain what steps a victim should take if they find themselves in this situation?
Attorney Jason Amala: Absolutely. The first step is to report the incident to law enforcement. It's vital that victims know they are not alone, and there are resources available to help them navigate this process.
Medina: What about pursuing civil action? How does that work?
Amala: Victims can file a civil lawsuit against the abuser and potentially the institution as well. This could lead to compensation for emotional distress, medical bills, and other damages. It's important to consult with a lawyer who specializes in these cases to understand the specifics.
Medina: Are there deadlines involved for filing these claims?
Amala: Yes, California has statutes of limitations that can affect the timing of a claim. However, recent legislative changes have extended these deadlines for certain victims, allowing more individuals the chance to come forward.
Medina: What support systems are available for victims during legal proceedings?
Amala: There are various support groups and legal aid organizations that can provide guidance. Emotional and psychological support is crucial during this process, as it can be incredibly difficult for victims to relive their experiences.
If you or a loved one has experienced abuse, remember that support is available. We encourage victims and their families to reach out for a free consultation to discuss their legal options. You don’t have to navigate this journey alone—contact us today to take a step toward healing and justice.
