Attorney contributor Laurence Banville of Banville Law has commented on the legal rights of the loved ones of a victim killed in a truck accident:
“There is nothing more devastating than losing a loved one in an accident that could have been avoided. While monetary compensation can do nothing to bring them back, it can help ensure that those left behind don’t suffer financially as well as emotionally. A wrongful death lawsuit is typically the only way that compensation can be obtained.
The compensation that can be recovered for the surviving loved ones can cover funeral and burial expenses, lost earnings, emotional trauma, and more. An experienced attorney can guide you through the legal process, can ensure that evidence, like the black box on the tractor-trailer, is preserved, and can fight aggressively for you while you focus on healing from your loss.
Don’t hesitate to contact an experienced truck accident attorney immediately after a semi-truck accident. You have legal options.”
