Legal Options for Stabbing Victims at Restaurants
Attorney contributor Brian Kent, regularly works with victims of violent crimes in civil suits. Below, Mr. Kent explains how to begin a civil court case. Mr. Kent does not represent any of the victims in this case. His commentary may also answer questions such as “Can I sue for being stabbed?“
“Providing a safe and secure property is a duty that falls to a property or business owner. Owners must install security on the premises to safeguard their patrons against crime. In the event a crime like, a stabbing, occurs the owners could be held liable for their part in a crime committed where someone is hurt.
Adequate security examples can range from locks to officers on the premises, and should be working at all times. If the security fails property owners can be found negligent, as explained above. An act of negligence will need to be proven by a crime victim attorney, which can help secure compensation for victims of stabbings.
When a victim survives a violent crime, medical cost will undoubtedly rise. Families of victims will frequently help pay these bills, especially if a victim became incapacitated for a period of time. Monetary damages can be sought against the property owner but the cases that win must have proof beyond a reasonable doubt,” described Attorney Kent.
