Legal Recourse For Victims Injured in Night Club Stabbings

Attorney contributor Brian Kent of crimevictim.Attorney represents victims and their families who have been injured or killed in night club stabbings. Mr. Kent has offered to share his insight on the legal options available to these victims.

“Commercial property owners are required by law to keep their patrons and employees safe from any preventable dangers. These owners must provide adequate security to uphold this legal duty. This may include things like hiring security guards, establishing well-lit parking lots, and installing video surveillance. If a property owner fails to provide adequate security, and a stabbing occurs due to their negligence, then the victim may have grounds for a lawsuit against the owner”, explained Mr. Kent.

“In addition to inadequate security, the victim’s attorney must also prove that the violent crime was reasonably foreseeable for there to be a valid lawsuit. If a stabbing occurs at a night club with a previous history of criminal violence, but security was not improved, then the crime may be considered reasonably foreseeable. Essentially, a violent crime victim may have grounds for a lawsuit against a property owner if the crime only occurred due to inadequate security, and if it was considered reasonably foreseeable”, stated Mr. Kent.

If you or a loved one has experienced a situation similar to the one above, you should discuss your legal options with an experienced crime victim lawyer.
