Elderly Woman Killed In Horrific Collision On Route 116

On September 9th, 2019, an 83-year-old man and a 77-year-old woman were riding in a car on Route 116 in Bethlehem, New Hampshire. The man, who was driving, slowed and came to a stop so that he could make a left-hand turn into a driveway. Unfortunately, the driver behind him, who was behind the wheel of a massive tractor-trailer carrying logs, didn't stop. He slammed into the back of the small passenger vehicle, causing it to turn into oncoming traffic.

The small car collided with a third vehicle being driven by a 76-year-old woman.

All three people in the passenger cars were seriously injured. Both drivers survived and were rushed to a nearby hospital to be treated for their injuries. However, the 77-year-old woman riding as a passenger did not survive and was declared dead at the scene. The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured.

Police are still investigating but believe that distracted driving caused the accident.

Tractor-Trailer Accident Victims Can Take Legal Action

Expereinced truck accident attorney Laurence Banville of Banville Law has commented to the powerful legal options available to the victims of truck accidents and their loved ones.

"When a semi-truck causes a collision the damage it can cause to those involved can be life-ending and life-altering. Common serious injuries caused by track accidents include:

  • traumtic brain injuries
  • spinal trauma
  • amputations
  • nerve damage
  • broken bones

These injuries and the complications that may occur can end a career and change the way an accident victim functions on a daily basis. In addition to this, these injuries are very expensive to treat.

Auto insurance always has a policy limit and insurance companies will stop paying for necessary medical care as soon as those limits are met, leaving a victim to deal with financial stress in addition to the physial and emotional pain they are suffering through.

Typically, the only way that a semi-truck accident victim can recover full compensation that will cover their medical bills, lost wages, physical pain, and emotional trauma, is through a truck accident lawsuit. These civil lawsuits are filed against the responsible party and their insurance company. The total amount that a plaintiff may recover depends on their actual losses.

If you or a loved one were hurt in a truck accident, contact an experienced attorney as quickly as possible."
