An assistant track coach from Ridge High School, located at 268 S Finley Ave, Basking Ridge, NJ 07920, faces serious allegations of sexually assaulting two minors. William E. Alston, 34, a resident of Aberdeen, has been charged with statutory sexual offense with a child by an adult and four counts of indecent liberties with children following a comprehensive investigation, according to Patch.
The Onslow County Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit initiated the investigation on September 2 after reports of a sexual assault emerged. Detectives learned from two young girls that Alston had engaged in inappropriate behavior, prompting an extensive inquiry.
Alston previously served as an instructional aide and assistant coach within Ridge High School’s track program. "The individual in question has not worked in our district since the end of September due to a suspension and was terminated in November," stated Bernards Township Superintendent Nick Marakarian, conveying the district's response to the allegations.
Authorities arrested Alston in Aberdeen on November 7. He was subsequently extradited to Onslow County by the United States Marshal Service on December 3, where he is presently held without bond following his first court appearance.
Simultaneously, the Aberdeen Police Department is conducting a separate investigation into other alleged offenses involving Alston in their jurisdiction. As the case unfolds, Markarian assured the community, "At this time, we have no information that this individual had been inappropriate with any of our students."
The school district is committed to supporting students and staff in light of these troubling allegations. School officials encourage anyone with relevant information or safety concerns regarding Alston to reach out to a trusted staff member, counselor, administrative figure, or the School Resource Officer.
