Eight Anderson City Bus Riders Taken to Nearby AnMed Health With Neck & Back Injuries
The Anderson Police Department is currently investigating a wreck between a city bus and a garbage truck that took place on the morning of Thursday, October 3rd near Roy’s Diner.
The circumstances surrounded the truck-bus crash are unclear, though it is believed that the garbage truck impacted the rear of the city bus. Both vehicles experienced minor physical damage.
The rides inside the bus were not as fortunate, though. Eight unnamed victims were translated to AnMed Health Medical Center for treatment of back and neck injuries.
The Anderson City Transit Agency is likewise conducting an investigation, which will involve acquiring a statement from the bus driver and even a drug test.

An experienced bus accident attorney and generous contributor to Legal Herald, Laurence Banville of BanvilleLaw shared the following insight on the legal options available to those who may have suffered injuries in a bus accident:
“Vehicle accidents that involve buses can be quite devastating as passengers are generally not required to wear seat belts. When a bus accident takes place, any kind of object inside the bus can become a harmful projectile. Even worse, passengers of the bus can become projectiles themselves. Injuries to the spine and head are very common, as is bruising or piercing of internal organs.
Victims of injuries resulting from a bus accident usually have the right to pursue legal claims through a civil lawsuit. This process can take some time to produce a full compensation for the victim, but the compensation will consider:
- Past medical bills
- Expected future medical treatments / expenses
- Lost income
- Physical pain
- Emotional shock and trauma
A lawsuit can help ensure that victims get the assistance they truly deserve for the rest of their lives.
It’s considered vital for bus accident victims to consult the circumstances of their case with an attorney as soon as possible. Insurance companies will try to get victims to sign paperwork right away, a move that an experienced bus accident attorney would not allow. This is because insurance companies are looking to pay out as little as possible, and when a victim signs any kind of document, they’re possibly signing away their rights.
Having an attorney’s help through this difficult time can take the weight off the victims and their families, leaving them the time and space to heal and recover while their pursuit for justice continues.”
